Dr Emily Sutherland is a Medical Practitioner and TGA Authorised Prescriber of medicinal cannabis based in Far North Queensland. She has a background in psychiatry and addiction medicine and a special interest in chronic pain, mental health, and the role of cannabinoid therapies in complex, treatment-resistant presentations.
Dr Emily trained at James Cook University in Townsville and has spent the last decade working to serve rural and remote communities in the tropics - an environment that has fostered clinical adaptability, cultural awareness, and a deep appreciation for the real barriers many patients face in accessing care. She believes that good healthcare should be whole-person, not just symptom-focused. Drawing on lifestyle and integrative medicine principles alongside evidence-based prescribing, she is deeply committed to making high quality care available to patients who have historically had to fight hardest to access it.
Dr Emily’s approach is non-judgemental, thorough, and she is genuinely invested in long-term outcomes for her patients.
She consults with patients across Australia via telehealth.
Outside the clinic, Dr Emily enjoys spending time in nature, creative writing, and therapy dog training.
